I think the black flies might have taken the water temp equipment away in hopes of luring more victims up to the lake. Holy jesus they were thick. Was up there on Saturday and at one point I had to jump back into my car to get away from them and they started to organize, I think they were planning on taking my spark plugs.
The worst part was that they were going after me and ignoring my kids...what bug in it's right mind wants yucky daddy blood when it can have sweet young child blood...I tried some "kid friendly" bug spray and they left me alone for a while, turned out they were laughing too hard to bite. I heard one of them say "Yo...we drink that stuff for breakfast." I pulled out some stuff with deet in it and they said "That we drink with lunch."
I'm looking forward to June when I only have to worry about the 'skeeters...
The new roads are a huge upgrade! I rode a loop and then rode back to Manchester...straight into a 20mph headwind...This clealy added 45 minutes to the ride time since that is how late I was for my Father-in-Law's birthday party...the biggest bummer was that on Sunday the wind did a 180 and would have been a 30 mph tailwind....
Good luck Moose people! |

Just got back from a day at Black Fly and Mooseman....
Lots of additional improvements for Moosey too, as you know.
We're going to move the finish line, so it'll be very spectator friendly. Bringing in FILL to fill in a low-lying area, and we'll have a 100 yard finish line chute, between the throngs of spectators. MUCH better for athletes, etc.
Just finished mapping it out.... |
