Keith,
Were you not able to secure parking on the Gunstock Acres field at Samoset this year? Was there some kind of issue or anything? I am just wondering. |

They won't let us park there this year, unfortunately.
It was a huge help last year, but c'est la vie! |

Ugh. I was hoping that wasn't the answer.
It was really helpful for those of us in Gunstock Acres who participate and for our friends and family in the Acres and Samoset who come and watch. Maybe we can change their mind for next year if you think having that area was helpful. I guess it's back to parking on Cumberland and (shh!) cutting through Lakeshore Park.

As you know, Gunstock Acres Association actually owns the land that we parked on at Samoset.
They gave us the approval, and gave it to us again. The people at Samoset were very good to work with, and it seemed they were excited to have us back, as everything was cleaned up, and we were respectful.
Apparently, one or two of the residents decided they didn't like it, and had their lawyer send a letter to the Gilford Police Dept that we couldn't legally park there.
Actually, legally, we could. But, starting a peeing contest in town over this wasn't worth it.
We'd LOVE to park at Samoset again. It was a HUGE help. Now, we're parking at Gunstock, with shuttle buses, and bike trucks to bring the bikes back after the race. Much more difficult... |

Yeah, I bet many people don't know the tennis and basketball courts, fields, etc. are all owned by the GABT. I guess at one time even the Gunstock Inn and all the land Samoset is on was too.
But anyway, you've confirmed my suspicions and I am sorry to hear it. I am not even surprised.
Maybe next year |
