Here is a minor quibble but something I would really like to see: Accurate mile markers on the run. I think that inaccurate mile markers are worse than none at all
I did Timberman in 2006, 2008, and this year and noticed that a couple of the mile markers were way off each year. Both the Garmin and sheer common sense made it clear I don't run suddenly run one mile that slow and then the next that fast in running-only races, much less half-irons. I've taken to ignoring the mile markers altogether so I am fine. But not everybody has a Garmin.
I'm not asking for them to be certified or anything. Just having someone ride a bike with a Garmin to mark off the spots before would be close enough. |

The active registration process is a pain. I find it annoying to have to answer all the "required" questions (x2 after signing up for Moose and Timber). Its an extension of the "too much information age". Ask the questions, no need to make it required. |
Agreed, there are a lot of dumb required questions. I'm not sure anything I've ever done counts as an athletic accomplishment so I said none. My big personal accomplishment was "I reproduced" and I'm doing the race "because". I'm sure some people take the questions seriously but I bet I'm not the only one that just put something in to fill out the required field. |

+1 for the plastic water bottle
+1 for the visor
I'll probably be shot for this suggestion but how about a cotton t-shit. I have a bunch of the tech t's now. Finisher's shirts?
As far of the dumb questions on Active are these Ironman questions because I don't see them on other races I register for? |

KJ - with the added fees from wtc and active this race is now a 20% premium over any other half (at least local races, I'm not talking about the 1500 YEAHDUDES at other 70.3s).
Can you offer a registration other than Active? They're in the same boat as ticketbastard - $15+ "courtesy fee" are you kidding me? |

I don't have a problem with the fees -- seem in line with everywhere else
i got charged about $15 from Active -- not a big deal in my opinion |

The Active fee is less than what online fee was last year, I believe.
I wish there was no online fee, the credit cards take a % from the online registration company.... |

That may be the case, however, your website's registration page states the price per event. Why, when I register, the price is higher?
I'm well aware what services active does for you (at our cost). Last year someone argued "I don't have the resources to cash checks and pen numbers for 500 participants" which struck me as funny; since, you know, people have been putting on races at least a few years before Active et al peddled their wares. |

I'm pretty sure we weren't the folks that said we "didn't have the resources to cash checks and pen numbers for 500 participants". In fact, I'm certain it isn't us.....
We've offered paper apps every year for our events, and have "cashed checks, manually entered info, etc" for quite some time.
Still do, for Black Fly and will for Big Lake. Mooseman and Timberman are part of the Ironman series, and Active is their choice of registration.
As you'll see, Black Fly is still on lin-mark, and you may choose the mail in feature and send in a check.
In the end, all we can do is try our best to make everyone happy. It's an impossible task, I'm learning.
Are Timberman and Mooseman more pricey than other races? They're more pricey than some, less pricey than others. Do I think they're still the best value out there? Yes, I do. We continue to add/improve things.
All of it costs money, unfortunately. For Timberman, we added more beer, margaritas, better food, recovery zone, live webcasting, team tailgating, Kids Zone (with flat screen tvs, Wii's), General Store for kids with free stuff, cold towel station, more volunteer groups, more police, etc. ALL of that costs alot of money. It's NOT given to us. The food was way more money, but we want to offer only the best.
Heck, for Mooseman we brought in topsoil and fill, so there wouldn't be a chance of puddles if it rained. YES, we paid for it. Do we need to do it? No, but we want things to be great. This offseason, we're bringing in more topsoil and SEEDING the area, so we'll have a nice grassy area for Mooseman.
Could we produce the races for less money? Sure, but they wouldn't be what we want/expect them to be. The expectation when folks come to the race is really high. Just the way we like it. But, we also have to live up to that, and surpass it. We take a tremendous amount of pride in what we do. I hope that shows.... |

| If you want to participate/compete in triathlon, you have choices about where to do that. In making those choices, you (not the RD) decide what price you are willing to accept, and in doing so you can expect a relative production in terms of support, amenities and let's face it, energy. KJ and Endorfun do it GREAT. If I'm going to enter a tri and I want to be treated like I'm welcome, like I'm doing something special, then I'm going to go to Endorfun because that's where it's going to happen. If I want no or low frills, little post-race food, less than stellar setting for the event, I know where to go....that's available elsewhere. Thank you KJ and Endorfun. We are ABSOLUTELY getting what we pay for, and the VALUE far exceeds the dollar. |

to cyclisto -- stop complaining and arguing -- register and have fun or don't but stop badgering Endorfun
They put on excellent race and their rates are competitive with everyone else and Active.Com provides all of us (race directors and racers) with a good tool for dealing with registration. You've already made your point about it -- so why keep on posting? childish, mean, and silly.

I'm fine with any/all complaints and criticisms, it's how we make things better
As always, we have to make decisions along the way that some folks won't like. And, coupled with that, some of the decisions aren't ours to make. I wish it was possible to make everyone happy. You'd be astonished at how hard our crew works to make that happen. In the end, it's an impossibility.
My one wish is that EVERYONE, whether they're happy or not with a decision, understand that we ALWAYS try to do right by the athlete. We consistently make things more difficult on ourselves to make the athlete experience better.
I'd happily put our races up against ANY in the world. |

This is why we all like your races so much. You definitely go the extra mile to make everything the best it can be. Will it ever be perfect and please everyone - of course not. But, you do the absolute best you can.
+1 on race visors instead of hats.
+1 on a full IM but in Texas! |

+1 for all the "extra stuff" that Keith has at his races. Endorfun Sports races are just in a separate class than the other local ones.
also a huge PLUS 1 for an IRONMAN in NH. |

A choice for COTTON T-shirts OR running shirts.
I have so many running shirts that I never wear. I can't run enough to wear one on a regular basis.
A cotton t-shirt, especially a nice one, I would wear any place. |

| One thing I've seen at some of the WTC races is an event poster. I frame them and hang them in my workout area. Have you ever thought about doing one for Moosman and Timberman? The graphics you do for the t-shirts are always awsome and I bet you could come up with a great poster. |
