I know you don't own the race anymore, but I'm hoping you don't mind my asking...
Where, exactly, is the bottle hand-up located on the bike course? |

but if they do what they did in the past there are five bottle handups - one every 10 miles or so. The first one is in the area of the Ice Arena, #2 is around Jordan's Ice Creamery, #3 is in Loudin at the bike turn around, # 4 is in the vacinity of the NH Dept of Safety and #5 is at the Ice Arena.
Hope this helps! _________________ Terry in NH

| Kind of begs the question of why anyone would leave T1 hauling 2-3 lbs of water if they can get it all along the course. |

1. What size (how many ounces) are they?
2. How slow or congested does bike traffic get at these locations?
3. Have you ever seen a pro grab one? |

but as far as I know there's not usually a problem. Maybe someone who's out there can answer your questions better. _________________ Terry in NH

In response to your questions, this is just based on all the years I've done Timberman (which is most of them) The bottles are usually the 24oz ones that will fit in your bottle cage, water and now Powerbar Perform (used to be Gatorade)
Congestion isn't usually a big problem. If you want to get something, move far right and slow down a bit. If you don't want anything and don't want to be held up, move far left and zip by. You should NOT stop at the aid stations unless you completely pull off the road. Nobody expects you to stop and will likely just plow into your back wheel.
Pros grab aid from aid stations just like everyone else. They just don't tend to slow down. |

I quite honestly don't know. Email audra@ironman.com...
As for the drinks, emzee is mostly correct, but Timberman WILL still have Gatorade, not power bar perform as the drink. It's all lemon lime for both bike and run.
I'll be out there on the bike course to help you all through the bike. Good luck!!!!!!! |

Mike, when are you available? Sunday for the 70.3 is when we need the most help. We have 5 different zones on the bike course, each has it's special "challenge". We have 5 different coordinators for each of the 5 different zones, and would love to have a good person helping at each of the spots, and possibly coordinating with a few "day-of" volunteers.
One of the spots we're looking at having an additional person at is the 140/106 intersection in Belmont. We'll have other volunteers there, of course, but having an additional person that I can really count on would be great!!!!!!!!!
Let me know, we can chat on the phone about it. Thanks!!!!!!!!
Off to make the course arrow signs! |

| The forecast is calling for rain all next weekend. Wet riding would be new to me, so any tips on associated hazards and subsequent bike maintenance would be greatly appreciated. Has any part of the race ever been modified/canceled because of this kind of weather? |
