Not since the introduction of binoculars is an innovation so radically changing the way spectators view long distance endurance sporting events while providing greater daily peace of mind to the family while you're out on course.
During Lone Star, the MyAthlete Athlete Tracking System enables spectators up to the minute real-time tracking of location, speed and history of athletes riding or running on course from the convenience of web enabled cell phone, PDA, iPhone or via a web-browser all in real time. MyAthlete will also have a Race Tracking Center at the race, with big screen televisions for spectators to follow you!
Integrating miniaturized GPS and cellular data technology into one lightweight device worn on a race belt, the athlete simply has to turn the unit on and go. Family, friends, coaches and race directors can track the athletes live by going to the web site: www.MyAthleteGPS.com via any web enabled device. The entire system is internet based and creates stored HISTORY of the activity live, while it is being made.
Lone Star participants may rent the units at a special discount at the race site, or online. Rental information coming shortly!

LONE STAR FLIGHT MUSEUM
Right beyond the gates of Moody Gardens. A great place to visit and view our history through aircraft! www.lonestarflight.orgWARBIRD FLIGHTS INTO HISTORY
At The LONE STAR FLIGHT MUSEUMLooking for a unique post-race activity? Try a historic flight experience in an authentic World War II aircraft at the Lone Star Flight Museum. The Lone Star Flight Museum will offer flight experiences in three legendary aircraft from the World War II era in conjunction with the Lone Star Triathlon Festival. Flights are available in the museum’s B-17 Flying Fortress, B-25 Mitchell and PT-17 Stearman at their home facility next to Moody Gardens and the Schlitterbahn Waterpark.
“Experience the sights, sounds and smells of American aviation aboard one of our historic aircraft. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly in an authentic World War II bomber or trainer and feel the power of these amazing machines,” said Larry Gregory, President of the Lone Star Flight Museum. “Today, few airworthy examples remain of these historic aircraft that defended freedom across the globe. A flight in one of our airplanes is truly a boarding pass to history.”
All museum aircraft sport authentic paint schemes including the B-25, which is the only flying B-25 painted as a tribute to the Doolittle Raiders. The interior of the B-17 is fully equipped with all turrets and associated equipment found during wartime.
Two of the most historic WWII aircraft ever built are available for flight experiences at Galveston’s Lone Star Flight Museum. Relive history as you fly over Galveston in the B-25 Mitchell (l) and the B-17 Flying Fortress. It is truly a unique experience as only 13 B-17s worldwide are currently airworthy.
A historic flight experience makes the perfect gift, family outing or corporate team building function. Each flight experience lasts about 35 minutes of which 20-25 minutes will be in the air. Per person prices are $425 for the B-17, $375 for the B-25 and $225 for the Stearman. No previous flying experience is necessary. Passengers must be 18 or over and some restrictions apply.
The Stearman is known for its role as a primary trainer during WWII teaching basic flight maneuvers to the majority of American pilots. Its simple, rugged construction and nimble handling made the Stearman loved by those who trained on it. “Flying in an open cockpit biplane is the ultimate vintage aviation experience,” said Gregory. “The Stearman was a staple of military aviation in the 1940s and continues today as a classic aircraft that symbolizes the American dream of flight.” Flights are available from 9AM-5PM, and remember to tour our 100,000 square foot facility filled with historic aircraft and memorabilia from the WWII era. Look for ride information and a discount general admission coupon in your race packet. For more information and to book your historic flight, call the Lone Star Flight Museum at 888-FLY-LSFM (359-5736) or visit on the web at www.LSFM.org.
